After defusing nine pyro bombs in Gondwana Express on its way to Hazrat Nizamuddin from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh Government Railway Police on Monday said they have some leads into the case.

“No arrests have been made but we have got some leads and are working on it. The recovery of explosives might be part of a large conspiracy. But right now, it is too early to say anything about it.

“We can’t draw any conclusions at this juncture. Our quick investigation and response team is on the job,” Director General of Government Railway Police, Madhya Pradesh, Mathlisharan Gupt said.

He said that some suspects are being questioned.

On Sunday, explosives, batteries, copper wires connected with an electronic device were recovered from berth number 14 in sleeper coach-8 of Gondwana Express at 3.20 pm at Sihora, 20 minutes after it chugged off from Jabalpur to Hazrat Nizamuddin.

The explosives were defused near a lake at Sihora. After the train left Sihora, someone passed on information to Sagar GRP that two more bombs were still in the train.

The train was stopped at Malikedhi station and its S-7, 8 and 9 coaches were searched rigorously from 8.45 pm to 11.45 pm, but nothing was found.

The bombs were possibly planted to trigger low-intensity explosions and fire in the train.

Later, the train left for its destination.
