A Central Reserve Police Force jawan on Friday night shot dead two fellow jawans and then killed himself with his gun at the Jharpokharia anti-Naxal camp in the tribal dominated Mayurbhanj district.

Police said Jawan Bharmendra Kumar opened fire from his gun at his two fellow jawans -- Jaswinder Singh and Samsher Singh -- killing them on the spot inside the CRPF camp.

Later he committed suicide by killing himself with his own weapon.

Mayurbhanj District Magistrate S K Bashistha and Superintendent of Police Dayal Gangwar rushed to the site. Senior police officials rushed to the site on hearing the gunshots and cordoned off the area. It was not immediately known as to what provoked Bharmendra to kill two of his colleagues.

The CRPF commandant is likely to come to the camp on Saturday to conduct an inquiry into the incident.

Police said the bodies were taken to Baripada for postmortem.
