The Communist Party of India-Marxist is in a spot politically and socially in Kerala with the police unearthing more and more details regarding the involvement of Peoples Democratic Party leader Madani's wife Sufiya Madani in the Kalamassery bus burning incident and the close rapport both Madani and his wife had with the dreaded Lashkar-e-Tayaiba operative Thadiyantavida Naseer.
CPI-M leader M K Pandhe said that the bonhomie the party had shared with Madani during the general elections was wrong and that sharing the dias with him had caused irreparable damage to the party.Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told reporters that the statement attributed to Pandhe was the stand taken by the party earlier.
However the state minister for local administration and senior party leader Paloli Mohammed Kutty told press persons in Malapuram that he did not feel that sharing the dias with Madani was a wrong decision .
The CPI-M leadership is in a corner in not arresting Naseer and his associates in the attempt to murder the former Chief Minister E K Nayanar who is one of the legendary leaders of the CPI-M in the state. Sources in the party said that the party local leaders are facing the brunt from an irate cadre on the reason of not seriously pursuing the murder attempt case against Nayanar even after the party leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan is the home minister.
The state home minister is also involved in a major controversy with the central home ministry on the arrest of Naseer and the support and logistics provided by the state leading to the arrest of the terror operative .The union home secretary G K Pillai has categorically denied any support from the Kerala police in the arrest of Naseer or other terror operatives. The state home minister had told press persons that the central agencies had picked Naseer from Meghalaya, after certain tips from the state police.
The state home minister has repeated his version and said that it was the tips given by the state police to RAW which lead to the arrest of the dreaded terror operative.
