Court orders probe into Rahul's RSS remarks

A local court in Alwar, Rajasthan has directed the district police to conduct an inquiry into the alleged remarks made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha.

On a complaint filed by RSS worker Rajendra Singh, Bansoor Judicial Magistrate Rakesh Ola recently directed the SHO Bansoor police station, Alwar, to conduct an inquiry whether Rahul Gandhi made any remarks in Bhopal describing the RSS as 'fanatical' and stating that it was no different from the banned terror outfit Students Islamic Movement of India.

The court also asked to inquire the impact of the remarks on people and whether it created an atmosphere of hatred between two communities, counsel for the complainant Vijay Singh said on Thursday.

Rahul Gandhi had on October 6 equated RSS with banned terror outfit SIMI, saying both preached "hardline fundamentalist ideologies", evoking sharp reactions from the RSS and the BJP.

"Both these organisations have hardline fundamentalist ideologies," he had said at a press conference at Bhopal. The magistrate also recorded the complainant's statement and directed the police to file the report before December 20.
