Couple shot at in Noida over property row

A man and his wife were fired upon on Wednesday by unidentified men at the Nithari crossing over an alleged property dispute. Meena and her husband Munnawar Hussain were shot at around 8 pm by assailants travelling in a jeep, police officials said.

A bullet hit Meena in the abdomen, while her husband sustained some injuries, said an official. The couple was rushed to a nearby hospital, where Meena's condition is said to be critical. "The husband is stable," said a doctor.

The police had earlier suspected it to be a road rage incident until the couple identified one of the assailants and stated a property dispute as the reason, said a police official. The statement of her husband is being recorded.
