As the Ganeshotsav festivities come to a close on Monday, the city of Hyderabad is also preparing to bid adieu to the country’s tallest Lord Ganesha idol.

The immersion ceremony of the 60-feet high Ganesha in Hyderabad promises to be a grand affair. It took almost three months and 200 artisans at the Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee to make this idol.

The tall idol was made to commemorate 60 years of the mandal. The Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee also marked this year’s festivities with a mega laddu weighing about 5 tonnes (5,000 kilograms).

Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee organisor Raj Kumar said, “We are very happy to celebrate 60 years. Artists from different villages have come to complete this task.”
