Indian joins elite ICBM club with Agni 5. CONGRATULATE the scientists!

April 19, 2012 11:27 IST

India on Thursday joined an elite club of nations with the launch of its indigenously developed nuclear capable Agni 5 ballistic missile going off without a hitch.

The trial of Agni 5, an Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile with a strike range of 5000 km, demonstrates the giant strides taken by India in its integrated missile development programme.

Only the United States, Russia, France and China possess the capability to operate an ICBM at present.

Scientists at the Defence Research and Development Organisation worked tirelessly for nearly two years to develop the missile.

No wonder, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Defence Minister AK Antony have been quick to hail the achievement.

Join Rediff.com in congratulating the DRDO scientists responsible for the successful launch of Agni 5. Let them know how proud you are of this milestone by posting your comments on the message board below.
