Bharatiya Janata Party veteran and Public Accounts Committee chairman Murli Manohar Joshi on Monday alleged there was a tacit understanding among the Congress, the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party on the issue of corruption.

The public outcry against corruption in the country had rattled these parties, he told a seminar on "Truth of 2G Spectrum from Parliament to the Street" in New Delhi.

This was the reason behind attempts to malign Gandhian Anna Hazare and yoga guru Ramdev, said Joshi, in the thick of a controversy over the draft report on the 2G spectrum scam.

He said the Congress managed to get the support of the SP and the BSP during voting on the draft report and accused the three parties of a tacit understanding on the issue of corruption.

Referring to alleged attempts on part of the Congress to shelve the PAC report on 2G scam, Joshi said "those who try to put reports of the Constitutional committees in the dustbin will be given the same treatment by people".

He said the PAC started probe into 2G scam even before the CAG report and all the concerned ministries, including the PMO, and other investigative agencies provided all information to it.

Joshi said it was ironic that while "Finance Minister (Pranab Mukherjee) terms PAC as the guard of Indian economy, Home Minister P Chidambaram, who was also the Finance Minister, is pointing a finger against it."

At the function, the BJP leader was felicitated on his renomination as chairman of the PAC.
