A complaint was on Wednesday filed against Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen Member of Legislative Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi for his alleged inflammatory speech made in December in Andhra Pradesh.
Social activist Shabnam Hashmi filed the complaint in Parliament Street police station, drawing attention to the speech made on December 24.
In her complaint, she alleged that "the whole speech is highly objectionable, inflammatory" and against the country's cultural heritage.
"It is a strong attack on the values of our Constitution, democracy and secular values. Such obnoxious speeches divide society, vitiate peace and lead to conflicts and riots," she claimed.
She demanded that a case be registered against Owaisi under Section 153-A (prompting enmity between different groups of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language etc and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) of the Indian Penal Code.
