CM Kejriwal recovers from fever, will meet cabinet today

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will meet his six-member cabinet at 1pm on Monday as the new Aam Aadmi Party gets down to work.

The meeting which was originally scheduled for 4.30 pm on Saturday, after Kejriwal’s swearing-in, had to be cancelled as the Delhi CM was down with fever.   

Kejriwal tweeted on Monday morning saying he was better. “Fever gone.Feeling much better. Restarted daily morn walk n yoga, which had stopped due to elections.My 1st day in office 2day. Do pray 4 me,” read the chief minister’s tweet.  

On Saturday, fever-relieving drug Crocin was trending on Twitter after Kejriwal mentioned it in his speech during the swearing-in ceremony.

Kejriwal had been suffering from fever for a few days and in his speech after taking oath as the chief minister, said he had come to the venue after taking Crocin.

Team Kejriwal is expected to chalk out the new government's agenda. Kejriwal had promised to make Delhi corruption free, reduce power bills by half and provide 700 litres of free water.

Kejriwal and six other ministers took the oath of office and secrecy in 'Hindi', drawing large round applause from the crowd on Saturday.

Others administered oath by Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung were Manish Sisodia, Asim Ahmed Khan, Sandeep Kumar, Satyendar Jain, Gopal Rai and Jitender Singh Tomar.

Sisodia will look after multiple ministries, including Urban Development, Education, Finance, Planning, Revenue and Vigilance. As deputy chief minister he will handle all departmental work of the new administration.

Jitender Tomar is minister for home, law and art and culture. Satyendar Jain is health minister and will also hold the power, industries, public works department, irrigation and flood control portfolios.

Gopal Rai has charge of transport, labour, rural development, employment and general administration.

Sandeep Kumar will be in charge of women and child development, social welfare and welfare of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes.

Asim Ahmed Khan will head the ministries of food and civil supply, environment and forest.
