Bharatiya Janata Party workers clashed with lawyers outside an election office of the BJP's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi in her Krishna Nagar constituency on Monday evening, leaving three persons injured.

Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Baniwal said the clash was between a group of BJP workers and a number of lawyers who were raising slogans against Bedi outside her campaign office.

He said the lawyers were opposed by the BJP workers, resulting in a heated exchange of words which turned into a clash between the two sides.

"Three persons have been injured in the incident. Nobody has filed a complaint in connection with the incident so far. No first information report has been filed yet," he said.

Lawyers of district courts have been staging protests against the BJP's decision to nominate Bedi as its chief ministerial candidate for Delhi assembly polls, citing the
clampdown by police on lawyers in Tis Hazari Court in 1988 when she was DCP (North).

Later, Bedi said she cut short her rallies following the incident. "My BJP constituency office in Krishna Nagar, (I) am informed, has been attacked. Informed some injured too.
Cutting short rallies, rushing back," she said.
