March 20, 2011 12:59 IST

Praja Rajyam Party chief and film star Chiranjeevi is to meet Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Monday afternoon to discuss the merger arrangements between the two parties.

He wants the merger occasion to be a massive gathering in which Sonia Gandhi will make a special appearance. Chiranjeevi wants the merger
to take place in second half of April, sources revealed.

He is likely to hold the merger in Vijayawada, and not in capital Hyderabad, sources added. Once SPG approves the venue, Chiranjeevi will announce the date and venue after he returns to Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, six Congress MPs from Telangana are scheduled to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to submit resignations as the 'United Progressive Alliance government miserably failed to live up to the aspirations of the people of Telangana.'

Nor it brought the bill before Parliament for a separate statehood for Telangana.

Congress MPs Keshav Rao and Madhu Yashki may even launch a Telangana Congress Vichar Manch, a non political outfit to press for their cause.
