The Election Commission has become a "tool of the Congress" and "its bureaucrats are rewarded for their loyalty", Haryana Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala said on Thursday.
"Retired people get EC posts for six years and go all out to help the Congress. After their term in the EC, like M S Gill, they eye for a Rajya Sabha nomination as an incentive," he said at a press conference in Chandigarh, the first after the assembly election on February 3.
EC observers who did not want to visit Bihar and Jharkhand had come to Haryana, he said. "They enjoyed here, sought Discretionary Quota plots of the Haryana Urban Development Authority," Chautala said.
He added that the EC ordered re-poll in six booths of the state without any recommendation of the observers. "Not only that, they fixed the re-poll for February 23 in Haryana whereas re-poll in Bihar was ordered for the next day itself," Chautala said.
