CBI raids on land mafia in Delhi

The Central Bureau of Investigation has raided over 70 places in New Delhi to unearth connections between the land mafia and government servants who were connected with land distribution in the capital.

According to CBI spokesperson G Mohanty, the home and offices of a former Indian Admistrative Service officer, who held the post of the registrar of cooperative housing societies until 2004, have also been raided.

"A large number of government officials of the registrar of cooperative societies and builders are being raided. The raids began early on Monday and are still continuing," Mohanty told rediff.com.

According to sources, a number of group housing societies that have influential persons as members have been allotted premium sites for construction at lower rates thereby giving monetary advantage to the builders. The homes of office bearers of these housing societies are also being raided by the CBI officials.
