On a day when the Central Bureau of Investigation filed a third chargesheet in the disproportionate assets case against YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the CBI special court in Hyderabad issued a summons to the Kadapa Member of Parliament to appear before it on May 28.
The court has also issued summons to 12 others, including bigwigs of several companies, who are facing probe into their financial dealings with Jagan's companies. Controversial IAS officer B P Acharya, already in jail in connection with the Emaar properties case, has also been summoned by the court as he too figures in the list of accused.
The third chargesheet, apart from naming Jaganmohan Reddy as accused number one, his man Friday and family auditor Vijay Sai Reddy as number two, has added some new names to the list including Ramky Group Chairman Ayodhya Rami Reddy and Ramky Pharma, a group company.
In the earlier chargesheets, CBI has already named the top officials of several other companies including Hetero Drugs, Aurbindo, Janani Infra and Trident Life Sciences.
Ramky Group has been accused of investing Rs 10 crore in Jaganmohan Reddy's Jagati Publications in exchange of favours extending by the government of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy .
Significantly, the third chargesheet also includes IAS officer G Venkatram Reddy accused number five. He has been facing charges of irregularities in discharge of duties as the then vice chairman of Visakhapatanam Urban Development Authority when land was allotted to Ramky Group.
Jagan's appearance in the court will coincide with campaigning for the by elections to the 18 assembly and one Lok Sabha seat. Jagan Reddy's YSR Congress party will be the main challenger facing the ruling Congress party in the by elections.
