A case was filed in a Bihar court on Monday against Haryana Bharatiya Janata Party leader O P Dhankhar for his alleged remarks ‘Bihari bride for Haryana boys’. The first hearing of the case, filed by local lawyer Prem Kumar Paswan, would be held in the court of chief judicial magistrate of Muzaffarpur district on July 17.
The case was filed under Sections 499, 500, 504,507 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code. "I have filed a case against Dhankhar for insulting the women of Bihar," Paswan said.
He also filed a separate case against Bihar BJP senior leader Sushil Kumar Modi, who is former deputy chief minister in the same matter. Dhankhar, who is the president of the BJP Kisan Morcha (farmers’ cell), had on Saturday made a the remark while addressing a party meeting in Haryana. He had said that if his party was voted to power in the state polls, it would get girls from Bihar to ensure men in Haryana get married.
He had also said that former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi was his close friend and he would extend help. Haryana has lowest sex ratio in the country with 879 women for 1,000, men according to 2011 census.
