A question paper of the Comptroller and Auditor General's departmental Section Officers grade examination was leaked, prompting authorities to cancel the examination, hours before it was to begin on Monday.
The examination was scheduled to start at 1400 IST in 50 centres all over the country.
A CAG release said the question paper for Monday's examination had leaked and the particular exam had been cancelled.
The remaining papers of the examination will, however, be held as scheduled,
"We wish to clarify that this examination is a departmental examination meant only for the staff of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department," it said.
The CAG said it will investigate the matter to ascertain the source of leakage.
