One paramilitary border security force trooper was killed and another critically wounded in unprovoked Pakistani firing on the international border in Samba sector of Jammu region late Wednesday morning.

A senior BSF officer said Pakistani rangers violated the ceasefire in the Samba sector this morning and opened fire at a border security force patrol.

"One BSF trooper was killed and another wounded in the firing," the officer said. He said BSF effectively retaliated.

The firing according to sources is still continuing.

One army soldier was wounded in unprovoked Pakistan firing in the Pallanwalla sector of the Line of Control in Jammu on Tuesday.

The two countries had agreed to a bilateral ceasefire on the borders in November 2003 which held nicely for a long time.
