Indian Air Force on Friday rescued 20 Border Security Force personnel trapped in flash floods on Border Out Posts along International Border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir and airlifted them to safety.
As many as 20 Jawans of BSF were trapped in a border outpost due to flash floods in Basantar river triggered by heavy rains in forward areas of the International Border in Ramgarh sector of Samba district on Friday, a defence spokesman said.
On the request of the BSF IG, IAF pressed into service a chopper and 20 BSF personnel were rescued in several sorties, he said, adding that their arms and ammunition were also brought to safety during the operations.
Due to heavy rains in Jammu region, Taranah, Devik, Ujah rivers are in spate Samba-Kathua sector and have inundated several low lying areas, particularly border belts.
