The Uttar Pradesh police have refused to divulge details about their investigation into theĀ bomb attack on the state's Institutional Finance (stamps and registration) Minister Nand Gopal Nandi, in which one person was killed and many others injured.
Sleuths of the Anti-Terrorism Squad and Special Task Force have failed to make any headway in the case.
"We are waiting for the forensic report which will give us an idea about the type of explosive device used in the explosion," said State Additional Director General of police Brij Lal.
Asked how the forensic report will help in tracking down the culprits, Lal said, "Well, once we have the report, we could get some leads about gangs which have a history of using the same devices."
He admitted that other than terror strikes, such tactics have not been used in any case in the state so far.
"While we do not have any record about the use of a remote-controlled explosive device in a non-terrorism related crime, we are trying to find out if such a course has been adopted in any other state in such a planned attack on an individual," the ADG pointed out.
Meanwhile, the condition of each of the injured victims, including the minister, remains the same. While the minister was reportedly 'making slow progress', his security official Sanjay continued to be critical.
The condition of Indian Express correspondent Vijay Pratap Singh is also reportedly serious.
