The Delhi police have arrested Utsav Bhasin, a businessman living in the Punjabi Bagh area of North Delhi for causing injury to two people on a motorcycle.

Anuj Chauhan and Mrigank Srivastav were hit by a BMW car in the wee hours of Thursday when  they tried to overtake it at the Moolchand Hospital flyover in Delhi.

"Utsav was hiding in friend's place in Kashmiri gate and was planning to flee India when he was arrested. He was drunk and was going home with his sister Shakshi when this incident took place in the wee hours of Thursday morning," a senior Delhi police official said.

Utsav has been taken for medical examination to ascertain whether he was drunk at the time of the incident. Both Anuj and Mrigank are undergoing treatment in the trauma centre at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. According to experts there are little chances of finding out the truth as the traces of liquor may have completely dissappeared.

"It is wrong to say that his sister was in the vehicle at the time of the accident. It was someone else," assistant commissioner of police Rajan Bhagat told rediff.com .

There have been contradictions between the earlier investigation and details that have emerged after Utsav's arrest. The police is on look out of the unidentified female who was in the car at the time of the accident.

This is the second time a BMW has figured in an hit-and-run accident case. Sanjeev Nanda had mowed six persons near the Lodhi Road police station in 1999.
