After the blasts, the cancellations

The twin blasts in Mumbai that killed 45 people and injured 150 on Monday afternoon have triggered off the cancellation of many press conferences, meetings, inaugurations and even book releases.

Infotech major Infosys Technologies, which was to hold a press conference in Mumbai on Tuesday, said in a media release that in view of the tragic blasts in the city, the conference had been postponed. No new date for the meet has been declared.

The British Council announced the cancellation of the release of Sangeeta Datta's book on Shyam Benegal at the British Council auditorium on Monday.

The new date of the book's launch has not yet been announced.

The inauguration of the Asian Heart Institute's 'Day Care center,' to be done by Maharasthra Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Tuesday too has been postponed indefinitely.

Meanwhile, a pre-release function to promote Ravi Chopra's film Baghbaan, which was to be held at the Taj Land's End in Bandra, Mumbai on Monday, was also postponed to the first week of September due to Monday's blasts in Mumbai.

The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Salman Khan and Rimi Sen.

However, in a media release, Anand Mahindra, president of The Confederation of Indian Industry, condemned the blasts and said that in spite of the disruptive nature of the explosions, it would be 'business as usual' in Mumbai and the rest of the country.

Uddhav Thackeray, Shiv Sena leader and trustee of Dainik Saamna, the Shiv Sena mouthpiece, on Monday cancelled his scheduled programme in Pune and rushed to Mumbai in view of the bomb blasts.

Uddhav Thackeray was in Pune in connection with the revamping of Dainik Saamna in the city. The function was scheduled to be held on Monday evening.
