BJP lodges complaint against AAP to Election Commission

The Bharatiya Janata Party has lodged a complaint with the Delhi Election Commission to prevent the Aam Aadmi Party from using images of Narendra Modi in their posters which the party alleges is in "bad taste".

“We have noticed that AAP has used the images of our leader Narendra Modi in some posters. We have asked the EC to immediately penalise the AAP for such misdemeanours,” said Sanjay Kaul, chief spokesperson of BJP's Delhi unit.

The saffron party has also sent a copy of the complaint to Delhi Police Commissioner for action against posters with Modi's images being printed on some auto rickshaws.

“The poster is offensive and in bad taste and not sober or adds any educative value to voters. It also violates the Model Code of Conduct as it criticises our leader and our party,” the complaint states.

In a similar development, the BJP Delhi legal cell has written a complaint to EC against Kejriwal for allegedly using radio spots to spread false information.

Anil Soni, Convener of the BJP Delhi Legal Cell, who made the complaint said, "The petition argues that the Jan Lokpal Bill was not even tabled in the assembly, so how could it have passed muster. Besides, the AAP did not even push for a vote of confidence and willingly withdrew from leading the government."

“The constitutional position on the bill has been clarified by the LG of Delhi and there is no scope for any doubt that the AAP chief minister himself took a unilateral decision to demit office. He was under no pressure from anybody and was dictated by his own interest in taking a plunge into national politics,” said Kaul.
