BJP leader's sister drugged, abandoned at AIIMS

Senior Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party leader Harsh Vardhan's sister was tricked into having several sleeping pills, allegedly by her daughter-in-law, and abandoned outside AIIMS in an unconscious state, police said on Tuesday.

Reena, 28, was arrested recently following investigations into a missing person report filed by Asha Singhal herself on August 24, a senior police official said.

Reena is married to Parag Singhal, Asha's son.

"Reena tricked Asha, the sister of BJP leader and sitting member of Legislative Assembly Harsh Vardhan, into having milk laced with sleeping pills. After she fell unconscious, she rented a car and took her to various hospitals before abandoning her at the gate of AIIMS," the official said.

A security guard at AIIMS, who saw the woman lying unconscious near the gate, took her inside and got her admitted, he said.

According to the official, Reena had allegedly taken 60-year-old Asha to Model Hospital, GTB Hospital and Saibaba Hospital before abandoning her outside AIIMS.

Asha's husband Ravinder Singhal died some years ago.
