The grand alliance of the Janata Dal-United and the Rashtriya Janata Dal have decided a seat sharing program to contest together in the coming Bihar assembly polls to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance.
It was announced by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad at their first joint press conference in Patna on Wednesday.
Nitish Kumar said that we have agreed on seat sharing and it was decided that the JD-U and the RJD will contest 100 seats each. Meanwhile, the Congress party will be contesting four seats and the Nationalist Congress Party will contest three seats of the 243 Bihar assembly seats in the coming polls.
Lalu said our alliance is united and will defeat the BJP-led NDA in coming Bihar assembly polls.
“We are united. There is no difference among us. We will defeat the BJP-led NDA in polls,” Lalu said.
Nitish Kumar also announced that they would organise a joint ‘swabhiman rally’ of the grand alliance on August 30 in Gandhi maidan in Patna.
Lalu said that we have joined hands to defeat the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. “We will reply to PM Narendra Modi's remark about the DNA of Nitish Kumar in our joint rally in Patna,” he said.
Modi has insulted Bihar and Biharis and we will avenge him for it
Lalu in his style said that as they have become a united and strong force, they will send the BJP and the RSS back to Nagpur.
It is first joint press conference of Nitish-Lalu in Bihar. Earlier both have addressed a joint press conference in Delhi in April this year along with other leaders of the Janata Parivar.
Last year Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar came together at an election rally for the first time in two decades to take on the BJP.
