The Bihar police have registered an FIR against 18 named Maoists and 150 unknown people in connection with the killing of eight policemen and the kidnapping of four policemen by Maoists in Lakhisarai district.

Lakhisarai Superintendent of Police Ranjeet Kumar Mishra told rediff.com over the telephone that an FIR has been registered at the Kajra police station against Maoists and unknown people.

"The case was registered on the basis of the statement of State House Officer of Kajra police station Indradev Paswan," Mishra said.

Maoists killed Lucas Tete, one of the kidnapped policemen, but released the three others, ending an eight-day hostage drama.

The four policemen were kidnapped by Maoists after a six-hour long gun-battle in Lakhisarai on August 29 that also left seven policemen dead and 10 injured.
