Dayashankar SinghA Bihar court on Friday ordered the police to file a first information report against Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah and expelled party leader Dayashankar Singh, who had made abusive remarks against Bahujan Samajwadi Party chief Mayawati.

Singh had sparked an outrage by his derogatory comments questioning the character of the BSP supremo. He had said that "Mayawati is breaking the dream of Kanshi Ram into pieces. Mayawati is selling tickets like a ‘prostitute’.”

The chief judicial magistrate in Hajipur has ordered the police to lodge a case against Shah and Singh.

The court's order was in response to a petition filed by local Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Balinder Das,who has filed a petition in the CJM court seeking order to file an FIR against Shah and Singh in connection with a derogatory remarks against Mayawati.

“I have approached the court as BJP leaders have hurt millions of Dalits, backwards and the poor by derogatory remarks against BSP chief Mayawati,” Das in his petition said.

Meanwhile, raids were conducted by the police overnight to trace Singh even as his family threatened to file an FIR against Mayawati and senior BSP leaders for allegedly using foul language.

"My daughter, who is a minor, is in a state of shock after the incident. I will definitely lodge an FIR against Mayawati and other party leaders and fight a legal battle," Singh's wife Swati told media persons.

"My husband is in politics, but we have no political connection. The manner in which BSP workers acted on Thursday and the language used by them during protest was derogatory," she said.

Swati said that her family was being dragged into the controversy unnecessarily.

"Why Mayawati is not taking action against Nassemuddin Siddiqui. Why he was not expelled from the party. I don't want to imagine what is the state of my 80-year-old mother-in-law," she said.

Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Jha said that raids were conducted on Thursday night but there was no clue about Singh's whereabouts.

There were unconfirmed reports that Singh could surrender in the court in Lucknow.

The SP said that Singh's brother Dharmendra was detained for questioning, but failed to give any information. "All he said was that Singh left for Gorakhpur on July 21 and there was no contact since then," he said.

Jha said that police raided the house of Singh's uncle at Bariya on Thursday night, but nothing was found.

"His mobile is switched off since July 20 night," he said.
