Bihar bans sale of small cylinders after Bodh Gaya blasts

July 13, 2013 18:37 IST

Alarmed over use of small cylinders in serial bomb blasts at Bodh Gaya's Mahabodhi temple, the Bihar government on Saturday banned the sale of small LPG cylinder in the state.

Bihar Food and Consumer Protection Minister Shyam Razak said that petroleum companies have been ordered to stop sale of small cylinders. “All the gas agencies would face action if sale of small cylinder was found in their locality,” Razak warned.

He said that enforcing agencies have been directed to keep close watch on illegal sale of small cylinders if any. Last Sunday, 10 bombs exploded at Bodh Gaya's temple and three live small gas cylinders bombs weighing two to three kg were recovered by police, who later defused them.
