Altogether 40 school students fell ill after eating a midday meal with some of them claiming that there was a dead lizard in the food cooked for them in Bihar's Sheohar district in Bihar, an official said

The students of the middle school in Sugiya Katsari panchayat complained of stomach pain soon after, District Magistrate KDN Singh said.

Some of the ill students claimed that they had seen a dead lizard in the food, Singh said

The students were taken to the Sadar hospital where 36 of them were discharged after primary treatment, while four were admitted, hospital's civil surgeon in-charge Arti Swetanki said.

The District Magistrate said that he had asked the District Education Officer and the District Midday Meal in-charge to investigate and submit a report.
