The notice, which was pasted on his residence in Jodhpur on Tuesday evening, asked Bishnoi to appear before the CBI at 11 am on December 14 or face legal action. "Failure to appear would invite legal action as you have not responded to the previous two notices received by your family members," the notice warned. The notice was, however, ripped off by his family members.
Bishnoi has not appeared before the CBI despite two summons on Saturday and Monday. No one except his confidants is aware of his exact location.
When the CBI was asked about his location, its spokesperson Dharini Mishra said he is probably in Delhi undergoing some treatment.
Sources close to his family claimed Bishnoi is currently in Bangalore consulting legal experts to be able to deal with the "impending crisis" which seems to await him in the wake of arrest of his brother Paras Ram Bishnoi and Bhanwari's husband Amarchand in connection with the case.
Moreover, summons by the CBI have further consolidated his fear of arrest and he is struggling to evade these by giving different reasons. Efforts to contact him on his two mobile numbers failed as the first one was switched off and the second one was picked up but hung up quickly with a terse 'no' as soon as the correspondent asked if it was Malkhan on the other side.
Legal experts are of the view that he is making things difficult for himself as he has not yet been tagged as an accused in the case and is sought for interrogation only.
It is evident that Mahipal Maderna also had taken the refuge of hospital to evade questioning by the CBI and remained lodged in the ICU from 12 to 18 November, following which the CBI had sought a medical report from the hospital to be sent to AIIMS for opinion.
