On Saturday, when the United Liberation Front of Asom declared the roadmap for talks with the government, Bangladeshi security forces pushed back two top ULFA leaders through the Indo-Bangla border in Meghalaya where the Border Security Force took over their custody.

ULFA 'Captain' Antu Chaudang and 'Second Lieutenant' Pradeep Chetia were pushed back through the Dawki border early on Saturday, the sources said.

They were taken to Guwahati by a team of the Assam police. Chaudang is considered a close confidant of ULFA hardliner and commander in chief Paresh Baruah.

Baruah and ULF general secretary Anup Chetia are the only two top ULFA leaders who have remained elusive. Chetia is in a Bangladesh jail while Baruah is reported to be taking shelter somewhere along the Myanmar-China border.

ULFA, a banned group fighting for Assam's independence since its formation in April 1979, has agreed to unconditional talks with the government after most of its top leadership, including chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa, were arrested in Bangladesh and handed over one by one to Indian authorities since December 2009.
