Three persons have been picked up in connection with the 2008 Bengaluru serial blasts.

Police sources told rediff.com that one person was picked up from Rajasthan while two others were nabbed from Kerala.

Omer Farooq, who was arrested from Rajasthan, is a prize catch for the police, as he was the one who had supplied the explosives that were used to carry out the blasts.

Sources said that Farooq, who hails from Kerala, was an associate of Bengaluru blast prime accused T Nasir.

He was present from the planning stages itself and had supplied the ammunition a couple

of days prior to the blasts, sources said.

From Bengaluru, he is alleged to have moved back to Kerala and then taken shelter in Rajasthan.

Nasir, who is presently in a Bengaluru prison, is said to have taken the name of Farooq during his interrogation.

The police, however, say that they are yet to ascertain the role of the other two men who have been picked up in Kerala.

The arrests were made in Kasargodu, which borders Karnataka. One of them has been identified as M Ismail.

Police say that though Nasir had mentioned their names (the persons arrested in Kerala) too during the interrogation, they are still finding out the exact role played by these men in the blasts, which left one person dead.
