Minor incidents of violence were reported on Friday in Gwalior division as Congress workers tried to enforce bandh at several places in protest of filing of three cases against Guna Member of Parliament Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Markets remained closed in Bhind, Gwalior, Shivpuri and Morena districts as Congressmen took out rallies raising slogans against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led state government, alleging that the action against Scindia was "part of political vendetta."

In Gwalior, protesters squabbled with shopkeepers while trying to enforce the bandh, police said adding, tight security arrangements were made to prevent any flare up.

The protests were sparked by registeration of three cases against Scindia and others in connection with alleged clash between his and Samanta Dal legislator (Pohri) Harivallabh Shukla's supporters at Pohri during a foundation stone laying ceremony of rural roads constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna on September 25.

Scindia was booked under various sections of IPC following a complaint by Shukla on September 26.

As the news spread, Scindia's supporters forced a bandh in Shivpuri on Thursday and one of them even attempted immolation, which was averted by police.

Meanwhile, a complete bandh has been observed in Bhind since Friday morning as Congress workers forced shopkeepers to down their shutters and took out rallies blocking roads, demanding immediate withdrawal of cases against Scindia.
