Prove secular credentials by banning Sene, says Congress

February 05, 2009 00:41 IST
The Congress on Wednesday asked the Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to prove his secular credentials by banning the right wing Sri Rama Sene.

Speaking after launching the party's "Vijay Deeksha" (taking a vow to ensure Congress victory) for the coming Lok
Sabha polls at Mudipu, about 12 kms from Mangalore, Karnataka pradesh Congress committee president R V Deshpande demanded
that Yeddyurappa apologise to the state's people for the attack on a Mangalore pub.

The Srirama Sene could unleash terror with BJP's support, he charged.

Deshpande lashed out at state Bharatiya Janata Party spokesman V Dhananjaya Kumar who alleged that Congress had instigated Sene to attack the pub. He urged his counterpart D V Sadananda Gowda to 'advise' Dhananjayakumar.
