September 15, 2011 15:35 IST

The Government Railway Police in Bhopal on Thursday took into custody a bag filled with Rs 10 lakh from the air conditioned coach of the Bhopal Express in which Congress Member of Parliament Sandeep Dikshit was travelling.

According to the police, the bag was handed over to the GRP by an attendant of the coach, after the train in which Dikshit was travelling from Delhi arrived in Bhopal on Thursday morning.

Initially, it was believed that the bag belonged to the Congress MP, but he denied it saying he had nothing to do with the bag.

Dikshit, a Lok Sabha MP from Delhi and son of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, told GRP officials that the bag belonged to one of his friends who wanted to buy a flat in
Bhopal.

Railway Protection Force Commandant A K Agnihotri said that since the bag did not belong to the Congress MP, it has been kept in their custody.
