A Delhi-based lawyer on Monday lodged a complaint against film star Amitabh Bachchan, alleging that he stretched the national anthem by around 30 seconds in violation of guidelines before the India-Pakistan World Cup T20 match in Kolkata.

The complaint was registered at New Ashok Nagar Police Station in east Delhi on Monday.

"We have received the complaint and are looking into it," a senior official said.

In his complaint, the lawyer said that Bachchan took 1 minute 22 seconds to sing the national anthem before the match on Saturday, violating Union Ministry guidelines restricting 52 seconds for the same.

"However, we have so far not come across any law, order or guideline which makes it an offence to stretch the timing," the senior official said.

The lawyer had also earlier filed complaints against other Bollywood actors and politicians.
