The two-day meeting of the VHP's Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Nirman Samiti to discuss the future course of action of the temple movement began in Ayodhya on Tuesday.
About 50 saints and seers from all over the country, including Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas president Mahant Ramchandra Paramhans and vice-president Nritya Gopal Das, are participating in the deliberations at Karsewakpuram, also being attended by VHP international president Ashok Singhal, its vice-president Giriraj Kishore, general secretary Pravin Togadia and joint secretaries Omkar Bhave and Champak Rai.
Jagatguru Swami Basudevanand Saraswati presided over the inaugural session while Ram Janmbhoomi Nirman Samiti president Mahant Awaidnath took care of the business of the day, VHP sources said.
The meeting would conclude on Wednesday.
Togadia told reporters at the venue that the outfit would reiterate its demand for enacting a legislation for handing over the 67 acres of land to it for construction of the Ram temple, which he claimed was the most important matter for the Hindu community.
VHP leaders were holding consultations with members of Parliament of all political parties seeking their support for enacting such legislation. The process would be completed by the end of the summer session of Parliament, he said.
Togadia warned of a nationwide agitation if the VHP's demands were not accepted.
Defending the distribution of trishuls as the religious right of Hindus, he said the VHP would work towards pulling down governments opposed to the act, in the next assembly elections.
On the ongoing excavation in the acquired land in Ayodhya, he claimed that traces of a Hindu temple have been found indicating the existence of a temple since ancient times.
