Assets case: Former DMK minister NKKP Raja raided

Vigilance officials on Wednesday conducted raids in the premises of former Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam minister NKKP Raja across Tamil Nadu in connection with a disproportionate assets case.

The raids by officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption were in progress in Chennai and Erode districts, DVAC sources said.

Raja is the latest among several DMK leaders and former ministers besides members of Legislative Assembly to face police and DVAC action either on land grab charges or allegations of disproportionate assets after the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government came to power in April last year.

DVAC had earlier conducted raids at the houses of former DMK Ministers Veerapandi S Arumugam, K Ponmudy, K N Nehru, M R K Panneerselvam, T M Anbarasan, K P P Samy, Durai Murugan, KKSSR Ramachandran, former MLA B Ranganathan and sitting MLA J Anbazhagan.
