The anti-talks faction of the proscribed United Liberation Front of Assam on Friday criticised former Union Home Secretary G K Pillai for the comments he had made in a seminar in Guwahati a few days back and stated that the bigwigs in the bureaucracy in the 'colonial' Indian government should better do away with the habit of belittling the ULFA, the people of Assam and their 'revolution'.
Reacting to the reported comment of G K Pillai that the ULFA's military chief Paresh Barua would either have to come forward for talks with the government or get eliminated, the ULFA statement said, "It was comment borne out of frustration on part of G K Pillai who had failed to accomplished a several billion dollar conspiracy to wipe out ULFA in the capacity of the home secretary of India."
The ULFA statement signed by its publicity secretary Arunodoy Dahotia said, "We want to make it clear to G K Pillai that the 33 years old ULFA-led revolution for liberation of Assam is not on such a loose ground that it will collapse with the elimination of some leaders or because of compromise made by a section of its members. The attack of Indian occupational force and conspiracies hatched by Indian bureaucrats will never be able to derail the ULFA from its avowed path towards its goal of liberating Assam."
Pillai while attending a seminar here earlier this week had commented that anti-talks ULFA chief Paresh Barua was now desperate for funds to run the outfit as he had to leave behind all his assets while fleeing Bangladesh to escape the wrath of Sheikh Hasina regime in that country.
"As the ULFA leader was now struggling garner funds to run his outfit, our efforts should be geared towards preventing him from creating any assets," Pillai said.
Pillai also said Paresh Barua's wife and children who were still in Bangladesh, were keen to come to India but the ULFA leader was preventing them from it. About Paresh Barua's reported visits to Yunan province of China, Pillai said that Government of India had provided the Chinese authorities with all necessary evidence about the ULFA leader's visit to Yunan province.
