An Andhra Pradesh court on Tuesday rejected the bail plea filed by Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi. He will remain in judicial custody until February 2 unless he manages to get relief from the Andhra Pradesh high court, which he will now move in appeal.
Owaisi had surrendered before the Sangareddy court on Monday after a warrant had been issued against him in a 2005 case. It was alleged that he along with his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi had obstructed a government official and assaulted him. On Monday after he surrendered the court had remanded him to judicial custody until February 2.
Meanwhile, another court extended the judicial custody of Akbaruddin Owaisi in connection with a hate speech case. Akbar is currently in judicial custody and the police are investigating the case against him. His voice samples will be taken before a court next week as he had claimed that the voice in the video was not his.
