A suspected militant was killed as the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid after a fierce gunbattle along the Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and  Kashmir.

Troops guarding the border line in Laam forward area in Nowshera sector observed the movement of some militants around 3.30 pm on Thursday and launched a search, army officials said.

They attempted to stop the intruders, following which they opened fire at the troops, who retaliated.

In the exchange, one terrorist was killed and an army personnel suffered injuries, officials said, adding that the injured have been hospitalised.
