Armed GNLA ultra arrested in Guwahati

Assam Police on Thursday arrested one cadre of the outlawed  Garo National Liberation Army from Nine Mile area in Guwahati along Assam-Meghalaya border.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Operation) Ranjan  Bhuyan informed that the GNLA cadre was identified as  Rinphu Sangma who is an important cadre of the outfit.

One pistol with live ammunition, three mobile handsets with SIM cards and Rs 57,000 in cash was recovered from his possession, the police official said. Rinphu hails from West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

"Rinfu is the area commander of GNLA based in Mendipathar area in Garo Hills. Today we have arrested him when he came to meet his wife in Nine Mile area," said the police and added that a team of Meghalaya police have already arrived in Guwahati regarding the case.
