The government on Wednesday did not rule out appointment of some new governors before the Budget Session of Parliament beginning July 7, saying a concrete situation will emerge only after three to four days.

"I will not rule out anything now," Home Minister Rajnath Singh told media persons. He was replying to a question on the possibility of appointment of some governors before the start of the Parliament session. "I will be able to tell you only after 3-4 days," he said.

The home minister said he was not in a position to comment on whether Goa and West Bengal Governors B V Wanchoo  and M K Narayanan respectively should continue in their posts.

There have been reports that both Wanchoo and Narayanan may be examined as witnesses by CBI in connection with AgustaWestland helicopter scam. While governors of Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh have already quit, sources had said some others have been sounded out by the new government to step down.

he sources had said that the government was considering appointing some Bharatiya Janata Party veterans as governors in around 10 states. Two governors -- Ashwini Kumar of Nagaland and Narayanan -- are believed to have conveyed to the Centre their willingness to step down from their posts following the National Democratic Alliance government's pressure on some of them to quit.
