AP: CBI files FIR against Jagan, Emaar

August 17, 2011 16:29 IST

In a follow up to the orders of the Andhra Pradesh high court, the Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a First Investigation Report for criminal investigations into the wealth of YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

The CBI has also filed another FIR in the land scandal involving Dubai-based Emaar Company.

The FIR was registered after many preparatory meetings of the CBI Joint Director VV Lakshminarayana had with officials of his agency from Chennai and Visakhapatanam.

Lakshminarayana also visited New Delhi for consultations with the agency top brass in the matter.

Agency sources said that a formal report will be filed in the court after the filing of the FIR. CBI was also planning to seek court's permission for conducting searches at the offices of Jaganmohan Reddy's companies in Hyderabad and other places in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and elsewhere.

Similarly, searches will also be conducted at the offices of Emaar, sources added.

The agency will be using its makeshift office at Dilkusha Guest House for questioning of the accused in both the cases.

The move came even as both Jaganmohan Reddy and Emaar have filed separate petitions in the Supreme Court seeking a stay against the high court orders for a CBI inquiry.

While Jaganmaohn Reddy was facing the allegations of illegally amassing wealth by misuse of power during the rule of his father YS Rajasekhar Reddy and violation of money laundering act among other, Emaar is facing the allegations of breach of trust, cheating and other irregularities in the use of land allotted by Andhra Pradesh government for developing a township.
