Noted Right To Information activist Arun Mane was on Sunday assaulted by unknown persons at Talegaon Dabhade near Pune, police said.

Mane who was attacked with sticks, has been admitted to a hospital and was stated to be out of danger. "He suffered minor injuries and his condition is not serious," P Degaonkar, Superintendent, Pune rural police, told PTI.

An associate of late RTI activist Satish Shetty who was murdered last year in Pune district, Mane has been championing various causes under RTI movement.

He had been given police protection following threats to his life, but had refused escort recently when he went to Alibaug for a few days before coming back to Talegaon Dabhade where he resides, police said.
