Another militant-army gunbattle begins in Valley

An encounter broke out on Wednesday between militants and security forces in Awantipora area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir, officials said.

Army and police cordoned off Dadsar village in Awantipora, 30 kms from Srinagar, on Tuesday night following information about the presence of militants in the area, they said on Wednesday.

A gunfight broke out between the militants and the security forces at around 10 am on Wednesday morning, they said, adding the operation was still going on when reports last came in.

So far there is no report of any causality on either side, they said.
