Nearly a year after the 26/11 terror strikes, 'Force One', an elite force formed on the lines of National Security Guards for the state's security, became operational on Tuesday.
The first batch of 216 commandos of the state's own specialised counter terrorism unit, was inducted at the State Reserve Police Force training ground in suburban Goregaon on Tuesday morning.
"The commandos who have undergone rigorous training and will be provided all infrastructure which will enable them to be on par with international counter-terrorism units," Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, who laid the foundation stone of the Force One's headquarters, said.
