Angry villagers pelt stones at Bihar CM's convoy

May 23, 2012 11:22 IST

Protesting against the lack of basic amenities like drinking water, electricity and proper roads, angry villagers on Wednesday pelted stones at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's convoy in Buxar district on Wednesday morning.

Kumar is visiting Buxar as part of his 'Sewa Yatra', said senior government officials.

Nitish Kumar's car escaped unscathed in the attack, but some vehicles in the convoy were damaged, said a district official.

Dozens of villagers were staging a protest to express their anger about the state government's claims of development when they got to know that the CM's convoy will pass Chausa village.

But Bihar Director General of Police Abhyanand denied the incident.

This is the second time the Bihar CM has faced the wrath of the people of his state. A similar incident, when stones were pelted at his convoy, had taken place in Nalanda district in early January.

In the last two months, Kumar has faced a number of angry protests during his Sewa Yatra, from East Champaran to Kaimur.
