The Telangana Rashtra Samiti promised to reserve atleast 12 per cent of all government jobs and seats in the elected bodies including the state assembly in separate Telangana state for Muslims.
Addressing a mammoth rally of Muslims in Hyderabad, organized byJamat-e-Islami Hind and its affiliated organizations Students Islamic Organization and Movement for Peace and Justice, TRS President K Chandrasekhara Rao said that Muslims constitute 12 to 15% of the population in the region. "They will get a proportional share in every thing including the budget", he said.
Jamat leaders said that the "Telangana Garjana" rally was a reply to those who said Muslims did not want state of Telangana. The rally at the Nizam's College Grounds was addressed by prominent leaders of all the major political parties including ruling Congress, main opposition Telugu Desam, TRS, Praja Rajyam and Telangana Joint Action Committee.
KCR urged the central government to realize at least now that every section of the society wanted Telangana state. "This is sea of humanity at the rally will send a clear message to the New Delhi what the people of Telagnana want", he said.
Senior TDP leaders N Janardhan Reddy and T Devender Goud also reassured that the new state will be for justice and equality as demanded by Jamat-e-Islami in its Telangana declaration released at the rally.
The rally was addressed by prominent leaders of various organizations, intellectuals and academicians including Dalit writer Kancha Ilaiah, TJAC convenor Prof Kodandaram, K M Arifuddin, Mahbub Alam Khan, former minister Basheeruddin Babu Khan.
