Pressuring the legislators and Members of Parliament of Telangana region to resign in support of separate state, the Telangana Joint Action Committee on Friday assured all such representatives that they will be re-elected to their respective positions unanimously.

JAC convener Prof Kodandaram, addressing the relay hunger strike camp of Telangana legislators at Indira Park in Hyderabad, said that the JAC's work would not end with securing resignations of Members of Legislative Assembly, Members of Legislative Council and MPs to create a constitutional crisis in the state for the sake of Telangana state.

"It will be the duty of the JAC as well as the people of Telangana to get all these representatives unanimously re-elected either in by elections or in general elections whenever they are held," he said.

He announced that to ensure their re-election, constituency wise committees of JAC will be formed in all the 119 assembly segments of the state.

He came out with the statement following several members of the JAC demanding such an assurance before forcing the elected representatives to resign by January 28.

On the issue of continuing suicides by the students in favour of Telangana state, Kodandaram said, "If suicides have to be stopped then the leaders of Andhra and Rayalseema regions should cooperate in formation of Telangana state."

He strongly denied the criticism of Andhra and Rayalseema leaders that he was provoking the students. "Students are not fools to be provoked. They take their own decision after serious considerations," he said.

Meanwhile, Telangana Congress leaders sought to dispel the impression that they were planning to quit the Telangana JAC. Senior Congress legislator from Telangana and former minister R Damodar Reddy said on Friday that there was no question of Congress leaving JAC.

"If any problems crop up, we will solve it within the JAC, but we will remain in the JAC and continue the united struggle for Telangana state," he said.

Denying the media reports that the Congress was quitting JAC, Damodar Reddy said, "If newspapers spread such falsehood we will boycott them."

"All parties, including the Congress, will abide by the decision of the Joint Action Committee," he said. He expressed hope that the Congress high command will announce by January 28 a time frame for the formation of Telangana state.

The reports of Telangana Congressmen contemplating to quit the JAC had come in the backdrop of increasing pressure from JAC on the Congress MPs and the MLAs to tender their resignations before January 28.

There have been several incidents on Friday of Telangana supporters laying a siege of various Congress legislators demanding their resignations.

Telangana activists blocked the convoy of minister Sunita Lakshma Reddy at Narsapur in Medak district demanding her resignation. They shouted slogans of 'Minister go back' for her failure to resign. In view of the tense situation, the police changed the route of the convoy.

In Secunderabad they blocked the path of film star turn Congress MLA Jayasudha, urging her to quit her membership of assembly and join the Telangana movement.

In Nizamabad, workers laid a siege to the residence of member of legislative council Rajeshwara Rao and demanded his resignation.
